Does San Diego FC hold academy tryouts?

Not right now. The club page says there are currently no open tryouts and invites families to sign up for future ones. San Diego FC runs a Right to Dream academy and takes in a new class of boys aged 11 to 12 each year. Scouting starts almost a year ahead, with fall open tryouts in San Diego and Tijuana: about 3,000 boys took part in 2025.

The scouting process starts almost a year before the class joins. It began with open tryouts in San Diego and Tijuana in the fall, with about 3,000 boys in 2025. Tryouts now are for boys born 2015 to 2016. Sign up on the recruitment page for news.

- Ask who is inviting you: the academy itself, or a camp or paid program run by the club's youth department.
- Ask whether the invitation is for one trial, a training pool or a team place. Pools can run for months.
- Ask in writing about cost, travel and school before you agree to anything.
- Tell your child's current club. MLS academies usually contact the current club first.
