Where scouts watch
  • Chicago and the Chicagoland suburbs
  • Discovery Center sessions in several towns
  • Youth club recommendations
If a scout calls
  1. Ask who is inviting you: the academy itself, or a camp or paid program run by the club's youth department.
  2. Ask whether the invitation is for one trial, a training pool or a team place. Pools can run for months.
  3. Ask in writing about cost, travel and school before you agree to anything.
  4. Tell your child's current club. MLS academies usually contact the current club first.
Watch out

What to check before you agree

Discovery Centers are for ages 10 to 12. Older players need scout or club contact.
