YesTrial information

Yes, Inter Miami is one of the more open MLS academies. The club runs a scouting form for direct applications, and it also holds a public program called Libertad para Jugar, or Freedom to Play, with free open trial sessions by age group that anyone can register for. The Academy itself is free once selected, funds around six age groups from U12 to U17, and trains at the club's Florida Blue Training Center in Fort Lauderdale. Twelve Academy graduates have signed Homegrown contracts with the First Team.

Scouted at local clubs and tournaments

Technical staff scout the South Florida club scene for players aged roughly 11 to 17, in addition to running ID camps and combines throughout the year.

Where scouts watch
  • Fort Lauderdale and Broward County
  • Miami-Dade County
  • Palm Beach County and the wider South Florida region
  • The club focuses recruitment inside South Florida, its MLS homegrown territory, rather than scouting nationally
If a scout calls
  1. If invited to Libertad para Jugar, confirm the exact birth year session, since the club runs separate dates for each age band.
  2. Registration for open trials is through the club's own form, so avoid third-party sites that claim to sell entry.
  3. Ask what happens after an open trial. The club says selected players are contacted afterward, so a session without a call is a normal outcome, not a rejection notice.
  4. Homegrown signing rights depend on South Florida residency and training history, so ask the club how a move would affect eligibility.
Watch out

What to check before you agree

Libertad para Jugar sessions are free and run by the club directly. Be wary of any paid camp or agency claiming to guarantee entry or a spot.
The Academy funds only around six age groups from U12 to U17, so younger children need a local pay-to-play club first, not an Inter Miami program.
"Academy presented by" branding on sponsor-linked programs refers to the free official Academy, but similarly named private camps in South Florida are separate, paid businesses.
