NoTrial information

No open tryouts for the boys MLS Academy. The club says it finds players through its Academy Centre network, its scouts and the BC Soccer Premier League. The open first step is the paid Prospects Academy, a weekly program for ages U8 to U15. The 2026-27 boys program in Vancouver costs $840 CAD plus taxes. It is not a tryout, and it does not promise a place.

Housing and school

The club runs a billet program. Billet means living with a host family. It is for players aged 15 (grade 10) to 19 in the MLS Academy, which is based at UBC. Host families provide three meals a day and the club provides transit passes.

Male MLS Academy players attend University Hill Secondary School. Players arrive in Vancouver in mid-August. The club says they go home at the Christmas break.

Where scouts watch
  • BC Soccer Premier League
  • British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and parts of Eastern Canada
  • Academy Centres in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Vancouver Island and London
  • Prospects Festivals in the fall and spring
If a scout calls
  1. Ask which route this is: the MLS Academy, an Academy Centre or the paid Prospects Academy. Only the first is the full-time academy.
  2. Ask what the MLS Academy costs. The club has called it full-time and fully funded, but the recruiting page does not give fees.
  3. If you live outside Vancouver, ask about billeting. The club places players aged 15 to 19 with host families.
  4. Check your family's residency. The club says it can only consider Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in Canada with immediate family.
