How recruitment works

Open identification sessions in Montréal and Quebec City, plus scouting across Quebec. The pre-academy starts at U13. U12 players go through the RDP.

    Open identification sessions

Open to all players. They run in several stages. Registration is online only, with a fee paid online. The page we checked lists Quebec City on September 25 to 27 and Montréal in October. The fee amount is not shown on the club page.

    Screening cells across Quebec

Coaches and scouts cover the province and all competitions. A scouted player goes into the club database and then through a selection process. The French page says a scouted player may be invited to a particular session or evaluation camp.

    Regional Development Program (RDP)

An annual program for U12 players across Quebec, with sessions in each region from May to the end of August. The club calls it the start of the identification and development process.

Where the Academy trains

Since spring 2016 the Academy has trained at the same place as the first team: Centre Nutrilait, 411 avenue Letourneux, Montréal. It has two synthetic and two natural fields, classrooms and a conditioning room.

From early November to early April the Academy also uses a second site in Laval. A third site is the Complexe sportif Marie-Victorin in Montréal.

What the club does not publish

We could not find these on the club's own pages: the tryout fee amount, 2027 dates, a written pathway page to CF Montréal's first team, and the language of training. We have not guessed.

Where scouts watch
  • Quebec, in all regions and competitions
  • Montréal and Quebec City tryout sessions
  • RDP regional sessions for U12 players
If a scout calls
  1. Ask whether you are invited to a session or to a place. The club's scouting process has stages.
  2. Ask which Sport-Études partner school your child would attend. Sport-Études is a Quebec school program that combines class and sport.
  3. Ask about language. The club site is in French and English, and the Academy is in Quebec. The club pages we checked do not say what language training is in.
  4. If your child is U12, ask about the RDP. The club does not evaluate U12 players in its tryouts.
Watch out

What to check before you agree

Registration is online only. Use the club's own site. The club says the registration link is published a few weeks before each session.
The tryout fee is not shown on the club page we checked. Check the registration page before you pay.
The club cannot recruit minors from another country who do not have Canadian residency.
Selected players must move to a Sport-Études partner school. Plan for that before you accept.
