Does York City run academy trials?
Confirm the age-group venue with the academy · York City · Checked 5 October 2026
York’s academy page confirms a Category 4 academy following its 2026 return to the EFL. It describes two-year scholarships for players aged 16 to 18. The club also has younger groups for ages 9 to 16. Those groups are invitation based and have monthly fees. U17 means Under-17. We found no current open academy trial date in the official sources checked.

How recruitment works
The official sources checked do not give a current academy assessment timetable or length. Ask the academy to confirm the venue, dates and feedback arrangements for your child’s age group.
- 01Ask about an Under-18s scholarship
Ask the club about its scholarship recruitment process. The academy page describes the programme but does not publish a current open trial date.
Official page ↗ - 02Coach or teacher referral for younger players
The key information page gives a contact for coaches or teachers recommending players aged 9 to 15. It says younger groups are invitation based.
Official page ↗ - 03Check the costs of younger groups
The club says its younger programme has monthly fees and an additional kit cost. Ask for current charges before accepting an invitation.
