Does Stoke City run academy trials?

Clayton Wood, Rosetree Avenue · Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent · Checked 5 October 2026

NoTrial information

We found no current open academy trial date in the official pages checked. Stoke’s main published route is its free, invite-only development centres for Under-6 to Under-14 players. Scouts or club coaches recommend players. Children can continue with their local team at weekends. The club says boys cannot join its full academy programme until age eight. Its academy is Category 1.

How recruitment works

An invitation to a development centre after scouting or a coach recommendation. The club does not state a separate academy trial length on these pages.

  1. 01
    Club programme
    Regional coaching before age eight

The club describes regional development centres for six, seven and eight year olds. The development-centre page lists venues at the Academy Dome in Stoke-on-Trent and Sandbach United. Ask which centre and age group an invitation covers.

By age group

Under-6 to Under-14This is the published development-centre range. Under-6 means the under-six age group for that season.
Where scouts watch
  • The club describes coaching and scouting in the Stoke-on-Trent area.
  • The development-centre page lists Stoke-on-Trent and Sandbach venues. These are not a published academy recruitment boundary.
If a scout calls
  1. Use the official club contact to confirm who sent the invitation.
  2. Ask for the programme, age group, venue and dates in writing.
  3. Ask when feedback will be given and how training fits around school.
Watch out

What to check before you agree
